Nuova Castelli Group, the second largest Italian cheese manufacturer, invested several million dollars to purchase the assets of Empire Specialty Cheese manufacturing plant in Chautauqua County. The company acquired new equipment, retained 80-90 full-time positions, and maintained relationships with hundreds of local milk suppliers. These actions will make this Ashville, NY plant a state-of-the-art dairy manufacturing facility. This has the potential to become the manufacturer’s industrial consolidation platform for Castelli’s new U.S. subsidiary. Nuova Castelli Group, founded in 1892, is based in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The company operates 14 plants and 11 distribution centers throughout Europe.
