Stannard Group, LLC to construct new headquarters in Ellicott to consolidate its multiple business entities, strengthen corporate culture, and create space for continued growth
JAMESTOWN, NY – Today, the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) approved a 15-year payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) incentive for a construction project that will help retain the Stannard Group, LLC in Chautauqua County. The request for funding from the company, which distributes foundry and turf consumable products, will support the building of a new warehouse and office facility in the Town of Ellicott.
The future headquarters of Stannard Group will consolidate locations for subsidiaries Weaver Materiel Service Inc., Naco Truck Leasing, and Stannard Properties, LLC on a 5.5-acre portion of Mason Industrial Park. The development of the 26,400 square foot facility is expected to require 60 construction jobs with contractor Kessel Construction. The entire project is expected to cost $2.885 million.
“We’ve explored a number of options with CEO Don S. Weaver Jr. in regard to the project, including sourcing new locations in Jamestown, but their capacity is greater than the sites that are currently available,” said Mark Geise, Deputy County Executive for Economic Development and CEO of the County of Chautauqua. “It’s great to see a local company like Stannard Group Inc. thrive, and we’re proud to provide technical assistance and incentives that will set them up for success and retain operations in the Chautauqua County, as opposed to relocation outside of the county, region, or state.”
The fourth generation, family-owned company was founded in Buffalo in 1944 as Weaver Materiel Service and relocated to Jamestown in the mid-1950s. In recent years, growth has provided opportunities for diversification, including the acquisition of Naco Truck Leasing Inc. in 2013 and formation of its real estate holdings group, Stannard Properties, LLC in 2017. The various entities of the company are currently housed at separate sites.
“The Weaver family and Stannard Group are valuable members of our community, providing employment and attracting business to our region for decades,” said George Borrello, Chautauqua County Executive. “All 34 current positions will be retained, and moving all operations under one roof will create a stronger corporate culture and create space for future growth and expansion.”
Construction will begin mid-June 2019, with the facility expected to be completed in early 2020.
