Coronavirus (COVID-19) has certainly changed the landscape for Americans, including those who would like to enjoy what the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region of western New York has to offer. From what we understand at this point, the next month and perhaps longer will be a time of significant restriction in travel and our ability to enjoy many of our area’s wonderful experiences. As we remind ourselves that Chautauqua County has been a vacation destination since 1874, the year Chautauqua Institution was founded, we find solace and recognize that we just need to be patient and work together toward the day when things do begin to reopen. In the meantime, here is some information on what you can do to enjoy our beautiful natural areas and how to support local restaurants. Also, hotels and lodging properties are considered essential businesses and are open for travelers. Several have special programs for medical professionals, delivery supply chain workers, and individuals working remotely. Please check with the hotels directly.
