
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Cummins Inc. announced that the Jamestown Engine Plant has secured a significant capital investment to install a new block machining line into its current Jamestown facility. Facilities preparation commenced in May 2015, and start of production is expected in 2017. The company estimates a total direct investment in the New York plant of approximately $94 million over 3 years in connection with the project and other related facility upgrades.
The investment represents a vote of confidence in manufacturing in the Jamestown plant, and allows Cummins to further optimize the efficiency and agility of its supply chain. The investment also provides for job creation and retention of 41 jobs to operate the line in the Jamestown facility.

Today, the Jamestown Engine Plant manufactures more than 100,000 engines for the heavy-truck market, and currently provides engines for approximately 35% of all Class 8 trucks in North America.

Cummins Inc. is located at 4720 Baker Street, in Lakewood, NY, and is one of Cummins’ primary plant locations for the manufacturing of machine components and assembly of engines. The plant has 1 million square feet of manufacturing floor space, and is capable of manufacturing in excess of 500 engines per day.
